Happy Veteran's Day you guys! I'm so thankful and proud of all the veterans I know. Of course I am especially proud of my family; my dad, my brother, and my wonderful husband. Without their service our country would be a little less free.

My husband's return from Afghanistan earlier this year

On that note, we are really enjoying our long weekend! Travis had off Thursday for the Marine Corps birthday, and had today off for Veteran's Day. I have so enjoyed all of the quality time we've gotten to spend together. It makes him leaving for Afghanistan soon so much easier. Enjoying all this time together recently has really strengthened our bond and foundation between each other. I will be so sad to see him go! Homecoming next year will be so amazing.

  2. I am a proud Marine Mom and very grateful for the sacrifices of our veterans!
Most of us don’t know what it’s like to be without liberty, freedom, rights and modern conveniences. Our volunteer military gives up all of this and more! They give up their autonomy to become “property of the US Government”. They leave their families to carry their belongings on their back, eat MREs (Meals-Ready-to-Eat) and put their life on hold in order to defend those who can’t defend themselves. I found this anonymous quote online and think it is so appropriate for civilian Americans in the 21st century.
‎"It is easy to take liberty for granted, when you have never had it taken from you."

    God bless our veterans! )*=)
